How to configure PulseAudio for 2x 2W Speaker + 4x 2W Woofer Dynaudio?

I have 6 speaker system by Dynaudio in my laptop (2x 2W Speaker + 4x 2W Woofer) and cannot find anywhere on the Web how to properly setup PulseAudio for a working configuration. The main question is how to make PulseAudio know there are 4 subwoofers. Will it be something like this in the ~/.config/pulse/daemon.conf:

default-sample-channels = 6
default-channel-map = front-left,front-right,rear-left,rear-right,front-center,lfe

or maybe this:

default-sample-channels = 6
default-channel-map = front-left,front-right,lfe1,lfe2,lfe3,lfe4

Any help appreciated :-)

Re: How to configure PulseAudio for 2x 2W Speaker + 4x 2W Woofer Dynaudio?

Pulseaudio generates profiles you can select that already do the relevant setup, default-channels only really get used for virtual/cards that do not have a profile configuration which should be almost none. What's your output for

pactl list cards
pactl list sinks
pactl list sink-inputs

FWIW since "quad woofers" aren't a thing in any normal audio situation, the underlying logistics of how this exactly is setup is likely up to the firmware/sound card drivers, which may or may not work correctly.

Hmmm, you maybe be right with the drivers, although commenting out both those lines in daemon.conf seems to produce sound not equal to, bo quite similar to what I hear with my ears on Windows 11 with proprietary drivers.

Here are the outputs

Re: How to configure PulseAudio for 2x 2W Speaker + 4x 2W Woofer Dynaudio?

The thing is you can't just invent channels that don't exist to the OS. While you can mess around with that config, if pulse only talks with a stereo speaker what will happen at most is that it mixes something to 6 channels and then back down to two for actual playback. How sure are you the audio actually changes and you don't imagine things? FWIW from the pulse perspective we only have stereo, so it could also just be that it simply does just stereo and then emulates LFE internally.

What do you get from
