Hello,
I have a OWC Thunderbolt 3 10Gbe Ethernet Adapter driver with a AQC108 adapter running the marvell AQtion driver
using ethtool, I get the following readings:
Settings for enp4s0:
Supported ports: [ TP ]
Supported link modes: 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Full
10000baseT/Full
2500baseT/Full
5000baseT/Full
Supported pause frame use: Symmetric Receive-only
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Supported FEC modes: Not reported
Advertised link modes: 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Full
10000baseT/Full
2500baseT/Full
5000baseT/Full
Advertised pause frame use: No
Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised FEC modes: Not reported
Speed: 5000Mb/s
Duplex: Full
Auto-negotiation: on
Port: Twisted Pair
PHYAD: 0
Transceiver: internal
MDI-X: Unknown
netlink error: Operation not permitted
Current message level: 0x00000005 (5)
drv link
Link detected: yes
as you can see, it detects the link speed of 10gbe, but for some reason it's defaulting to 5gbe
note: I had a 5gbe aquantia usb-c ethernet adaptor running on this system before switching to 10gbe
Any pointers on what I can check that may be forcing the 5gbe speed?
Thanks!

I ran into the same problem with my Intel X550, and this is how I solved it (I documented this on my install notes, which is what I linked above)
