[solved]Kernel installation error missing files (that are actually not

During Kernel installation I get the following error:

==> ERROR: file not found: '/usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio.AP6212.txt.xz
==> ERROR: file not found: '/usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4356-pcie.gpd-win-pocket.txt.xz

Neither file is missing

$ ls -ls /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio.AP6212.txt.xz
5 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 588 Feb 16 07:55 /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio.AP6212.txt.xz
$ ls -ls /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4356-pcie.gpd-win-pocket.txt.xz
5 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 964 Feb 16 07:55 /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4356-pcie.gpd-win-pocket.txt.xz

Why I am getting the error.

my WiFi is not working because of that

When, exactly, do you get those? If it's during the space check, that means something else deleted them, but the new package would have restored them.

I think you mean to hit 'reply', not 'report'

Post the entire IO of that attempt, in doubt from your pacman log.

Re: [solved]Kernel installation error missing files (that are actually not

If it's not just a copy paste error, it's notable that those "filenames" start with a single quote - in which case the error is accurate.  A file with a path name starting with a single quote do indeed not exist.  I'd wager the typo is in your mkinitcpio.conf.  But as noted above, context definitely matters.

Re: [solved]Kernel installation error missing files (that are actually not

That single quote is a change in mkinitcpio 35 to make all messages consistent, it's not the issue here.

This issue is https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … issues/169. It's fixed in git and pending a patched package release.

Edit: The fix is included in mkinitcpio 35.2-1.

Re: [solved]Kernel installation error missing files (that are actually not

Ah, it is a copy paste issue then as only part of the message was shown and it was broken mid string.  I'd not have thought anything of the single quote if there was also one at the end of the filename - but it's conspiciously mis-matched (because the rest was cut off by the OP).
