unable to mount usb drive

After booting my system today I was no longer able to access an usb drive. When I try to access it in dolphin I get the error

An error occurred while accessing 'Volume', the system responded: The requested operation has failed: Error mounting /dev/sdc1 at /run/media/"my user"/Volume: Unknown error when mounting /dev/sdc1

and when I try to mount it using

mount

I get the output

$MFTMirr does not match $MFT (record 3).
Failed to mount '/dev/sdc1': Input/output error
NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a
SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows
then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very
important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate
it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g.
/dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation
for more details.

Rebooting, system updates and removing and reconnecting the usb drive did not fix the issue.

I might add here that I have been using this drive on this system on an almost daily basis for multiple months now, so it's not a compatibility issue or anything.

I'd appreciate any help, thank you in advance.

Re: unable to mount usb drive

The output you posted gives you the options of what might be wrong and tells you what to do. What's the question?

Re: unable to mount usb drive

Did you run chkdsk on MS Windows as suggested?
I assume this is an NTFS file format.

Not sure if this will help, but here is our WiKi page:https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NTFS
