hardlock when trying to switch network configuration

i've been rebooting into arch for the first time in a month or so and usually forget to connect my lan cable at first wink. then i tend to restart the network and try again. today, this has always completely froze my pc and i had to poweroff/on it to make it work again. i'm using the "menu" option and i think i always tried to navigate through the menu, when my pc crashed. can anyone give me advice on this please?
