Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

How could I try this without having to format my drive? I don't want to have to install Linux again unless I can install Arch. I still have to boot with nomodeset. And I am using fedora so fastboot isn't a problem. It didn't yell any errors before, no.

Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

I'd assume the install iso still supports multiple VTs

And I am using fedora so fastboot isn't a problem.

idk what's that supposed to mean, but if there's a windows installation, make sure fast-start (not fastboot) is disabled - this isn't optional.

Fedora runs w/o any freezing?

Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

Yep. Well I don't have a windows installation so. I mean In order to get to the part where it gets stuck I have to format my drives and then it gets stuck when installing grub.

Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

On grub-install?
Run it "--verbose" to see where it hangs.

Though, in case:

I have to format my drives and then it gets stuck when installing grub.

You don't have to format anything. Maybe start by not using the archinstall script… god knows where and how that might screw up.
It's not meant to install the system but as a framework for mass deployment (at least that's the figleaf excuse for its presence)

Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

I don't use arch install because I think it doesn't work with nvme drives or is it just broken for me? Where should I install grub then?

Add "bluetooth.blacklist=yes" to the kernel command line and see if that works.  That's not (likely) a long term solution, but could confirm where the problem is.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this tread, but what is the situation here?
I just got my hands on a Dell Precision 7530 and booted the Arch install ISO from USB-stick. I got a kernel panic with blinking Caps Lock.
After quick googeling I found this and appended bluetooth.blacklist=yes to the command line. Now the ISO boots to the promt. I haven't moved furter with the installation yet, but I would like to have more info on this situation with bluetooth if anybody knows anything before I proceed...?

mokkurkalve, How does the output of lspci for you compare with the photo of post #19?   In particular, the WiFi interface and GPUs?

Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

Sorry, I screwed up.  I thought I remembered that blacklisting the Bluetooth module was effective.  Apparently it is my memory that is not

mokkurkalve,
I am pretty sure (as has been pointed out to me elsewhere) yours is not the same problem.  At this juncture, I suggest you start a new thread.  Our side discussion is officially hijacking this thread.

Re: [SOLVED] Arch Linux ISO Freezes

Update: Decided a few days ago to try installing Arch again and it worked! Everything went smoothly so I guess this thread is now solved!
