Reinstalling nvidia package hasn't change a thing. Do I miss something?

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

For the zen kernel (and generally kernels that are "custom" or self compiled) you need to install the kernel headers of the kernel you want to build modules for and the DKMS package of the kernel module you want to build. In this case linux-zen-headers and nvidia-dkms.

Further info: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dynami … le_Support and/or https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA#Installation which mentions to use DKMS for other kernels.

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

No it isn't, at least not by me. My CPU has it's own factory "boost" though.

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

I'm not sure if I could do that - on this laptop I have a mechanism called MSI OverBoost Ultra. I haven't seen any UEFI option to turn it off.

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

I think I'll give it up.

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

If you decide to un-giveup, feel free to ask for help if you get stuck.
The principal idea is to limit the maxmum frequency well into the "safe" territory to see whether that prevents what are most likey RAM issues.
Ideally you'd do that in teh UEFI, but if that's not possible, you can at least do it on the OS level (what's still not gonna help w/ your decompression issues when booting the system - but at least we'd know what to focus on)

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

I've read before about the instability issues on the last two Intel CPU generations, and I have some problems with Linux on my new laptop almost from the beginning. Yes, the decompression of the kernel/initramfs gives me some booting-time related hangups from time to time, but I've been able to discover that it's less frequently happening when I choosed the lz4 compression algorithm.

I guess I have to wait till MSI will release new UEFI version with "Intel fail-safe" or similar option, as some other vendors did. Installing linux-zen kernel is not a priority for me at the moment.

OK, one more try, as I have some major issues with current linux kernel.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dynami … ld_modules

It might have already been build but it's clearly not available according to #17, so try to remove and explictly rebuild the module and pay attention to the build success/errors and in doubt check/post the dkms log.

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

You meant "dkms install nvidia/550.78 --all", but do you have secure boot enabled??
Where's the MOK coming from?

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

Nope, secure boot is disabled. I haven't even tried to enable it on Arch.

Re: [SOLVED] Errors when trying to install Linux-zen kernel

Ok, I have that too - apaprently dkms creates it on installation.
Does the signing still hang?

Just remove /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/550.78/6.9.1-zen1-1-zen manually and try to rebuild the module.
