Do you have more luck w/ the LTS kernel (and linux-lts-headers for the dkms)?
I would try going for the LTS kernel, problem is that I won't know how to boot into it without GRUB being visible. I blame Apple on that, but maybe there's a workaround. What do you suggest doing in this case?

OK, so currently its busy with other stuff, what packages will I need to install in order to switch over to the LTS kernel?

linux-lts and linux-lts-headers…
that simple? I was always used to installing the default Linux kernel, thought it'd be a whole another process. Dumb question on my end, my bad.
update: got the LTS kernel working, and it's all the same, except now it is also having jittery windows on all windows, and the black large border around Firefox is still there.
What now?

Excuse the bump, but I'd like to figure out what to do.
Currently, I have the LTS kernel up and running, but it seems to be acting the same as it did on the normal kernel.

For a quick test run "glxinfo -B" - if that doesn't say "nvidia" post xorg log and journal.

Another thing to note, anything that wants to used accelerated 3D graphics doesn't launch.
I've tested it with the AUR version of ClassiCube (open-source Minecraft clone) and Ri-li (2006 children's wood toy train game), also from the AUR.
ClassiCube has a standard GTK launcher which works just fine, but the game itself doesn't launch at all, no matter what.
Ri-li doesn't launch at all.

Do you have the X11 log for that?
For the backlight there'd be https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-bl-dkms but this doesn't help if you don't get the nvidia chip working.
For the pre-boot situation, https://blog.virtualwolf.org/installing … cbook-air/ might help (see the grub config) - it however also indicates a functioning nvidia GPU/driver…

for the X11 log, I can just redo it again, and generate the log from the tty, then return to as is and send it here.
I'll install the backlight package and see what it does.

Yes, we're forcing the server to bind the nviidia driver to that device and provide the requried server flags (340xx might not even have had drm support and in that case the otputclass match can't work - no idea why it's there)
Oh, and make sure
ls /usr/lib64/nvidia/xorg /usr/lib64/xorg/modules
actually exist and you have some libglx.so.340* there

currently rebooting, I'll send results soon.
update: seems that the server has started and gone dark, no SDDM, and I can't switch to another tty.
I'll try blindly removing the file, hopefully it works.
update 2: it doesn't do anything, but I have an idea: I'll boot into an ArchISO, and chroot into my install and remove the file from there.
update 3: and we're back! I'll try this now:
copy the file again
reboot into the standard system to generate the Xorg log
reboot into the ArchISO
copy the Xorg log
remove the file
reboot again
After that, I can just send you the Xorg log, and then decipher what's going on and how we can fix it.

Driver loads and brings the the expected ABI complaint but no actual error…
What if you pair that w/ "nomodeset" or "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" to get rid or the simpledrm device or the entire KMS?

hm... I'm not currently home, but I can test it once I'll be.
If worst comes to worst, I'll just install Linux Mint or another lightweight Linux distro.

quick update, here's what I've done so far:
set the file with "nvidia_drm.nomodeset=1", didn't work
set the file with "nomodeset", also didn't work
from pure curiosity, set it to both, also didn't work
the good thing that came out of it is that all 3 times, I got to a tty and not a blackout.
anyway, the logs:
