Wireless no longer working

Few months ago, using ndiswrapper 1.21 with beyond kernel and Rt2500 drivers I was able to set up wireless connection to my router.
Now I need to go wireless again, but this time something wierd is happening.
I`ve inserted Belkin PCI card, loaded ndiswrapper module, ndiswrapper -l told me that hardware is present, I can use iwlist to scan for wireless networks, etc, however, when trying to `ifconfig wlan1 up`, ifconfig hangs and refuses to be killed. It`s using up all system resources. I can`t even properly reboot the system, it gets stuck at stopping daemons.
