hello all, was using the built in compositor in xfce, until about 7 months ago when my monitor stopped going to sleep. I then switched to picom which I love and has been working flawlessly until a few days ago... after a system update.
I checked at what was updated during that time, picom was not, hasn't been updated since feb. mesa drivers were updated about a week ago, so that was new.
I removed picom from autostart and rebooted and all seems fine. I ran picom -b from terminal and flicker starts when moving my mouse, moving a window or just sitting there.
would it be safe to downgrade mesa for a test?
has anyone else experience this with an AMD gpu, picom, and xfce?
/nixit
EDIT: linux kernel 6.10.3 and beyond has solved the flickering for me.

update:
after booting to the LTS kernel and picom, things appear to be fine. so it appears something in a recent kernel update could be causing this.
