Having issues with Bluetooth on X299-Deluxe motherboard

My Arch installation does not seem to be able to connect to the Bluetooth devices around it. I have read the wiki, I have installed bluez and bluez-utils, but nothing really changed.

I also booted my old install of Ubuntu to check if there was issues with the hardware, but no, there were no issues with the hardware.

As stated above I use the integrated Bluetooth antenna on the X299 Deluxe (as far as I know that is a joint Wi-Fi + Bluetooth antenna)

[bluetooth]# [CHG] Controller E0:4F:43:70:A8:EB PowerState: off-enabling
[bluetooth]# hci0 class of device changed: 0x6c0104
[bluetooth]# [CHG] Controller E0:4F:43:70:A8:EB Class: 0x006c0104 (7078148)
[bluetooth]# hci0 new_settings: powered bondable ssp br/edr le secure-conn
[bluetooth]# [CHG] Controller E0:4F:43:70:A8:EB PowerState: on
[bluetooth]# [CHG] Controller E0:4F:43:70:A8:EB Powered: yes
[bluetooth]# scan on
[bluetooth]# SetDiscoveryFilter success
[bluetooth]# Discovery started
[bluetooth]# [CHG] Controller E0:4F:43:70:A8:EB Discovering: yes
[bluetooth]#

Thanks for reading. Ask me questions if you want more information about the configuration.

Re: Having issues with Bluetooth on X299-Deluxe motherboard

After enabling scan, what happen in bluetoothctl when you execute:

devices

Do you see the available devices?
If you do, what happen when you execute:

connect <BT_DEV_MAC>

This is what comes up:

scan on
[bluetooth]# SetDiscoveryFilter success
[bluetooth]# Discovery started
[bluetooth]# [CHG] Controller E0:4F:43:70:A8:EB Discovering: yes
[bluetooth]# devices

This post suggests there should be 2 antennas.

That does not explain it working in Ubuntu.

Re: Having issues with Bluetooth on X299-Deluxe motherboard

OK. So you can compare the kernel/firmware versions between the distros and see if something comes up.
But from the description, BT does seem to work.
Perhaps try to put a BT device as discoverable closer to the antenna and see if it has any effect.

Also, please upload full journal logs:

journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Although I do not suspect that can be the issue here, I will still provide the differences.

Ubuntu was on a kernel 6.2.x and Arch is on 6.10.3.

Yes, I am really pleased that it is not a hardware fault.

I actually connected to the device from different distances on Ubuntu, both close and from another room, both options worked really well, so that is not an issue either.

Sorry, the system has been on for quite a long time, so the log is insanely long.
