Whenever I try to mount a Samba share or a GNOME Online Accounts "GOA" GIO GVfs to my filesystem I get error messages and I cannot access the mounted filesystems. I recently had a failed eCryptfs home directory encryption attempt that might be the cause of this problem. I am using Arch Linux on Cinnamon 6.2.9 and yes, I did do…
sudo pacman -Syyu
… but the issue is persisting. I think the failed home directory encryption attempt might be the cause of this problem. I remember trying to…
umount /run/user/1000/gvfs
And while it seemed to work to allow me to try to encrypt my home directory using eCryptfs, the encryption ultimately failed, and I had to restore my home directory from a known good backup, but these issue is lingering. I was hoping that the Arch Linux community can help solve my issue.
Here are links to screenshots of the windows showing the error.

Please read the pacman manpage for what that second "y" does, understand what that's a bad idea and the stop doing this unless you *really* mean to.
I know nothing abotu GOA but the first screenshot looks like you're trying to mount a mail address…?
Let's focus on SMB, can you browse the share w/ smbclient?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Samba# … lic_shares
As for the second screenshot: are you trying to share and mount your (encrypted) local $HOME (or a path in that) via SMB???
Offline
The local $HOME directory was never encrypted due to a failure, but that error message still shows in the second screenshot.
The first screenshot is for GNOME Online Accounts. I think the two errors in the screenshots are related. I think it has something to do with GVfs.
Thank you, will do….
sudo pacman -Syu
… from now on.
How do I use sambaclient?
smbclient -L IdeaPad-3-mg -U%
What do I put for -U%?

Let's see whether gvfs is hallucinating some encryption:
mount
Can you open eg. ftp://ftp.dlptest.com/ in your filebrowser?

Edit:

There's certainly no ecryptfs
Do you get a more useful error when trying to mount the GOA drive from the console?
Do you get the same problem trying to mount a google drive?
https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GnomeOn … /Debugging
As for samba, can you access smb:// shares in nemo and/or could you browse your desired exports w/ smbclient?

Yes, I get the same problem when mounting a Google Drive file share.

I going to try right now. Will let you know about that.
