Steam stopped launching

Hello! Steam stopped working after some last week updates to the system, but there is not enough information in the debug log. Someone else having this issue? Here's the log. Everything else in the system seems to work fine, OpenGL and Vulkan applications also run fine.

although kind of a sledgehammer method: from windows I have the experience that when steam doesn't want to play nice along it often helps to wipe it except the executable and the games - so on windows you end up with nothin but steam.exe and the steamapps folder (make sure to also clean your home directory) - and then just launch steam and let it figure itself out - at least on windows that was a possible option back then
as for linux: I guess trying the same can't hurt - just make sure to not wipe your games but otherwise clean steam from your system and do a fresh install - usually it should work again and after detecting your games and checking them you should be able to play again without having to download everything again

In my experience this sort of problem is usually caused by a discrepancy between the graphics driver and its lib32 equivalent. What was updated, and what is the output of

glxinfo -B
glxinfo32 -B

Yeah, glxinfo32 is not happy. glxinfo shows normal output.

@WorMzy I thought it was something GPU releated, looks like a problem with 32bit side of things. I have a RX6600XT. About whats upgraded, lots of stuff... I kinda lost track of the exact date this started to happen.

@cryptearth You have a good point, but those kind of problems mostly show up easily when you look at console output. This time I was a bit confused, because there is no useful debug information.

What are you running git releases of core packages for? Just from that I'd say your lib32-llvm-git not being in line with llvm-git is likely a problem. So potentially something to fix for lcalier. Also generally mesa-git assumes testing repos, are you using those?

Yeah, that is right, I use that repository for bleeding edge graphics drivers. First thing I did was downgrading mesa and llvm back to non-git packages, which didn't work. But today I tried again and it started working.

Thanks for replies in this thread. I had the same issue (messed up 32bit libs after fiddling with the system) and following advice here was able to fix it.
