Canon Pixma IP3000 experiences?

I have a Canon Pixma IP3000 here, and it's an awesome printer, except when I got it (I was still on Gentoo) I couldn't get it to work properly (no duplex support, bad colour prints), so I've been using it from the windows installation on my laptop. But since Arch is so awesome, I thought maybe it can work now. So, anyone have experience with running this printer?

I always roll 20s on my disbelieve checks.
You better believe it.

You might want to give Turboprint a try, there is a free version with a few restrictions or there is a full version for EUR 29.95 (approx $39).

Re: Canon Pixma IP3000 experiences?

there are good drivers based on the japan canon drivers ... but there only debian packages and i was not able to convert them with deb2targz
maybe someone could help me

drivers from : http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/

bjfilter-2.5 : http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takush … 1_i386.deb

libcnbj-2.5 : http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takush … 1_i386.deb

pstocanonbj : http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takush … 1_i386.deb

outputs :

[johannes@Johannes Drucker]$ deb2targz *deb
deb2targz: converting 'bjfilter-2.5_1-1_i386.deb' ...
deb2targz: skipping section 'debian-binary'
deb2targz: skipping section 'control.tar.gz'
deb2targz: wrote 'bjfilter-2.5_1-1_i386.tar.gz'
deb2targz: converting 'libcnbj-2.5_0-1_i386.deb' ...
deb2targz: skipping section 'debian-binary'
deb2targz: skipping section 'control.tar.gz'
deb2targz: wrote 'libcnbj-2.5_0-1_i386.tar.gz'
deb2targz: converting 'pstocanonbj_3.3-1_i386.deb' ...
deb2targz: skipping section 'debian-binary'
deb2targz: skipping section 'control.tar.gz'
deb2targz: wrote 'pstocanonbj_3.3-1_i386.tar.gz'

than i tried installing using pacman :

[johannes@Johannes Drucker]$ sudo pacman -A *tar.gz
Password:
loading package data... load_pkg: missing package info file in bjfilter-2.5_1-1_i386.tar.gz

if someone could help me it would be very nice!
