Electron apps crash

I'm running wayland + hyprland, slack opens for a moment and then immediately crashes.

Looking at logs, I would assume something is wrong with libc.so.6 but not really sure where does this dependency comes from to slack as I tried both slack-desktop-wayland and slack-desktop from AUR and both have the same problem. Moreover, discord doesn't launch as well with similar symptoms

There's an infinite recursion and ultimately segfault in realpath.
Aside running it w/ a specific electron version (or just as explicit electron client) check

find -L ~ > /dev/null

as this smells like a failure to resolve recursive symlinks (there was a similar isssue w/ the adwaita icon theme inheriting itself… but that should™ be fixed if your system is up to date)

The 500 lines strace are cute, but useless.

I get the similar stack trace but it's still much larger than pastebin limits. If you could point me to what I can look for - that would be awesome. I mostly use it to find permission issues (which is not the case in this scenario)

To make things worse, the issue somehow was resolved and I didn't actually change anything. Didn't even update Slack

Ok, that's the obvious problem.
‘/home/iamkarlson/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/0/pfx/dosdevices/z:/ is your root partition (likely via symlink) which includes /sys which has recursive symlinks.
Remove that link

stat '/home/iamkarlson/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/0/pfx/dosdevices/z:'
rm '/home/iamkarlson/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/0/pfx/dosdevices/z:'

You can btw

uniq 2Gfile 2kfile

which should condense the output *drastically*

dosdevices/z: is how wine makes the whole system accessible, it will prob be recreated when steam or wine are upgraded .
