Can't add Google account to KDE Plasma online account section.

After opening the web authentication and entering in my email i get met with a "couldn't sign you in - This browser or app may not be secure. Learn more Try using a different browser. If you’re already using a supported browser, you can try again to sign in."

However, I can't use the link on another browser as it is the internal browser...

Any help?

Re: Can't add Google account to KDE Plasma online account section.

I had the same error, I solved it by installing kdepim-addons and kio-gdrive (although I think only the first one is needed).

Which package was it specifically? kdepim-addons has around 39 packages.

I'm not exactly sure honestly. I installed the entire meta-package and the google integration worked normally after that.

Re: Can't add Google account to KDE Plasma online account section.

I didn't do anything else but install the package I mentioned in addition to kio-gdrive.

Where are you trying to log in from? Settings > online accounts?
I wanted to log in to gdrive to have access to my folder in dolphin, and I installed kio-gdrive but I had the same error as you, then I installed kdepim-addons and it worked.
Maybe you can try installing kio-gdrive?

Re: Can't add Google account to KDE Plasma online account section.

This didn't solve it for me, I'm on KDE Plasma 6.2.3
Any time I enter my email I get "This browser or app may not be secure." and it doesn't let me continue
I've heard some people can make app passwords on their account to get past it, but that would require first being able to get to the password field..

EDIT: I managed to get past that screen after waiting for a while? I now just get a red warning screen with "This app is blocked. This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access."

It is tracked in the KDE bugtracker, see here:

(not solved yet)

There are some workarounds mentioned, like maximizing the window, changing to your own language and clicking next instead of pressing Enter. For some people that helped, for me it is still blocked.

So it seems the login procedure from KDE is too insecure for new Google settings/standards. KDE should open up a login window in the default browser - maybe we are already logged in there.
