be aware: setting up a network bridge will set a random MAC on it which differs from the physical MAC of the NIC
in order for the bridge and tge virtual NICs of the VMs to work the physical NIC has to switched to promiscuous mode in order to allow processing of traffic not matching its physical NIC but the virtual one of the bridge
from the routers point of view there should be no difference between a virtual bridge on a pc vs two physical devices connected via a dumb layer-2 switch - hence I would rule out an issue by the router - espacialy if it's as advanced to support vlans

The DNS (1.1.1.1) setting is a hack but at least it lets me use the internet, making this issue less urgent; I would like to get it "right" though
The next step for me would be eliminating your current Arch installation as a cause: Either testing the bridge setup on different hardware or booting your current machine from an Arch installation medium and try to reproduce the bridge setup there.
