Hello Arch community! I'm new here trying my best.
I use Davinci Resolve for my work and got it working after some tinkering.
One of the things that gets installed along with Davinci Resolve Studio is a player called Blackmagic Raw player. (it's used to play braw(codec) footage from blackmagic cameras)
PROBLEM:
When I try to open the player I get this error message:
OpenGL version 2.0 or later is required to run this application.
Your graphics driver indicates support for OpenGL version 0.0.
Now. here are some info from my system:

[monkey@MONKEY ~]$
-I also got this output:
[monkey@MONKEY ~]$ glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"
OpenGL version string: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 25.1.4-arch1.1
----------------------------------------
A few things I've tried are
-running it from terminal with prime-run : Same error
-running it from terminal with __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayer : Again same error.
-side note --> I'm currently in Wayland in a KDE plasma desktop. I don't have a Xorg/X11 in my options in log in screen.
Now you could say just use vlc or another player.. well Blackmagic created the codec and the specific player for compatibility reasons.
VLC shows this --> Codec not supported: VLC could not decode the format "brhq" (No description for this codec)
MPV player that was already in my system from installation also doesn't support the codec. (it plays with a black screen. Only audio)
I hope that there is something I'm not aware of. Something I could do to fix this issue. At least I bring it up here for solving.
No video or thread that I have seen since now has a fix.. or even adresses the BlackmagicRaw player.
Please help.

Please replace the oversized screenshots w/ links (the board has a 250px² rule) and generally don't post pictures of text (your konsole output) but post the text.
On that notice, Please use

tags. Edit your post in this regard.
You're currently running KDE on wayland, do you have the same problem w/ an X11 session?
If so, please then post your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General as well as the full outputs of
glxinfo -B; prime-run glxinfo -BOffline
Ok friend!
Yes I just added X11 to my system and tried to run the BlackmagicRAW player there.
I get the same error:
(OpenGL version 2.0 or later is required to run this application.
Your graphics driver indicates support for OpenGL version 0.0.)
here is the output from the command you gave me in my Wayland:

I also tried Grok (I provided it with the outputs and log) to see what answers I get and this is the first part of a long answer that it gave me:
"Thanks for providing the output! The error messages and ldd output give us valuable clues about why Blackmagic RAW Player is failing to initialize OpenGL and reporting "OpenGL version 0.0". Let’s analyze the issue and provide targeted steps to resolve it."
Analysis of the Output
Error Messages:
QXcbIntegration: Cannot create platform OpenGL context, neither GLX nor EGL are enabled
QXcbIntegration: Cannot create platform OpenGL context, neither GLX nor EGL are enabled
QOpenGLWidget: Failed to create context
These errors indicate that the Qt framework used by Blackmagic RAW Player (via libQt5Widgets.so.5, libQt5Gui.so.5, etc.) is unable to create an OpenGL context because it believes neither GLX nor EGL is available.
This is likely because the application is not correctly detecting or loading the NVIDIA OpenGL libraries, even though you’re using prime-run and specifying __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia and __EGL_VENDOR_LIBRARY_FILENAMES.
ldd Output:
The ldd output shows that Blackmagic RAW Player is dynamically linked to several libraries, including:
libGL.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
libGLdispatch.so.0 => /usr/lib/libGLdispatch.so.0
libGLX.so.0 => /usr/lib/libGLX.so.0
These libraries are critical for OpenGL functionality. However, the paths (/usr/lib/) suggest they might be linked to the system’s default OpenGL implementation, which could be Mesa (for the AMD GPU) rather than NVIDIA’s libraries.
The Qt libraries (libQt5Widgets.so.5, libQt5Gui.so.5, etc.) are loaded from /opt/resolve/libs/, indicating Blackmagic RAW Player bundles its own Qt version, which may not be fully compatible with your system’s NVIDIA OpenGL stack.
Key Observations:
The error suggests the application is not picking up the NVIDIA GLX or EGL implementations, despite your use of __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 and __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia.
The libGL.so.1 and libGLX.so.0 libraries might be pointing to Mesa instead of NVIDIA, causing the OpenGL context creation to fail.
The bundled Qt libraries in /opt/resolve/libs/ may be causing compatibility issues with the system’s NVIDIA driver.
Are all these valid? Or is Grok bullshitting? I don't have the experience to be able to figure out if it's correct.. And further more I'm not trying a bunch of prompt suggestions that Grok gives me out of fear of breaking my system.
Still getting the error though. ![]()

move the bundled libraries
Can you help me with that a bit? What exactly do i have to move and where? Do i move everything listed above? Do i create a new folder? Could you please elaborate?
Offline
I installed the https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x8 … ultimedia/
I moved these 2 like this:
sudo mkdir -p /opt/resolve/libs/backup
sudo mv /opt/resolve/libs/libQt5Multimedia.so.5 /opt/resolve/libs/libglib-2.0.so.0 /opt/resolve/libs/backup/(Did I do it right? Is that what you are saying? Did I missunderstand)
I updated with sudo pacman -Syu
I rebooted
Tried the player again. But got the same error.
As of now I reverted the position of the libs I moved since I got no result. I Deleted that extra "backup" folder I made for them. Just to keep everything in its original place.
I kept the multimedia package.

The plan was to move away *all* the libQt5* libraries (qt5-multimedia will hopefully drag in all other relevant Qt5 libs, check ldd whether you end up w/ unresolvable objects)
And Idk. specifically, but would move them to eg. /opt/resolve/libs.bak/ - not a path inside /opt/resolve/libs in case BlackmagicRAWPlayer does add recursive linker paths.
You can check/post "ldd /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayer" again to confirm that the above worked as intended.

[monkey@MONKEY ~]$Not sure if I moved the correct ones. I think I did. I also made a libs.bak directory outside the original libs folder like you said.
This not only didn't it solve the error but broke Davinci resolve (I couldnt launch it) in both sessions Wayland and X11..
I Reverted the libs location back to original folder and deleted the libs.bak directory i created so everything is back to normal for Davinci Resolve.
BlackmagicRAW player still giving me the error
Did I make a misstake on the whole moving the libs operation?
So you have any other suggestions?

On what particular error message? (For DVR as well as the BMRP)
libc++.so.1 => /opt/resolve/libs/libc++.so.1 (0x00007f91144ec000)
libc++abi.so.1 => /opt/resolve/libs/libc++abi.so.1 (0x00007f91144aa000)probably also move away those.

basically me doing the actions I posted on my previous reply (moving the libs I moved) Broke Davinci resolve. Davinci resolve wouldn't launch and the original OpenGL error on BMRP wasn't fixed.
So Do I stick with the moving the libs operation? Isn't it futile since it breaks Davinci?

Yes…
On what particular error message?
Read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855
Isn't it futile since it breaks Davinci?
Not if the cause is the disparity between the bundled libc++ and libglib or libQt*
You essentially want to figure
1. what bundled libraries you actually need
2. which of them is breaking hardware accleration

the original OpenGL error on BMRP wasn't fixed.
When I'm talking about the original OpenGL error I mean this:
OpenGL version 2.0 or later is required to run this application.
Your graphics driver indicates support for OpenGL version 0.0.
Basically the main problem I had from the start.
I will do my best to provide you with the correct info from my terminal.
-So in order what I did was:
I installed the https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x8 … ultimedia/ like you said
[monkey@MONKEY ~]$ pacman -Qs qt5-multimedia
local/qt5-multimedia 5.15.17+kde+r2-1 (qt5)
Classes for audio, video, radio and camera functionality After that I moved these by creating a folder
sudo mkdir -p /opt/resolve/libs.bakOutside the original libs folder as instructed:

[monkey@MONKEY ~]$(as you can see I also updated with pacman -Syu at the end)
After all this I tried running BlackmagicRaw Player in both a Wayland and a X11 session. But I get the same result. The original error:
OpenGL version 2.0 or later is required to run this application.
Your graphics driver indicates support for OpenGL version 0.0.
And in addition to that, moving the libs where I moved them broke Davinci resolve studio. (it wouldn't launch at all in both Wayland and X11)
I reverted all the libs I moved to their prior place in order to Fix Davinci.
Now could you be so kind and give me some steps to follow so I can try again and see where we go from there?
I apologize in advance for any misunderstanding. And I appreciate your patience.

So if it's not coming from the bundled libraries the most likely explanation is a bug in parsing the GL information (opengl 2.0 is really old and predates eg. the core profiles)
https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/view … 1&t=188066 - this is on windows 10 …
Feel free to restore the bundled libraries and try
https://docs.mesa3d.org/envvars.html#en … N_OVERRIDE
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=2.1 /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayernb. that you must NOT be running this on the nvidia GPU (as the environement variable will not work with the nvidia driver)
nvidia allows you to limit the __GL_ExtensionStringVersion but idk. whether you can control the actual GL version "(__GL_VERSION=2.1" might work)

I had Linux mint before and I installed Davinci there too. Never had the Open GL error on the blackmagicraw player before. Neither on my windows desktop.
Now for the rest of the stuff you wrote on your last post im sorry but i don't undestand most of them. I don't know what the next step is. Care to walk me through it?

Same hardware, same mesa version, same OpenGL version support?
You could install Mint now on your current system and see whether it works there…

glxinfo -BIf this doesn't say" nvidia", just try to run
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=2.1 /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayer"MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=2.1" will artificially limit the supported GL version to 2.1 and we want to see whether that makes BMRP happy.

[monkey@MONKEY ~]$ I see something about it being amd? is that the problem?
And from the second prompt I got the same error basically
[monkey@MONKEY ~]$ MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=2.1 /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayer
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not find the Qt platform plugin "wayland" in ""

is that the problem?
No.
I got the same error basically
Bascially not.
This is w/ the bundled libraries again?
The problem is however likely a1) wayland 2) X11/modesetting/glamor - both will require GL 3 or 3.1
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.1 /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayerAnd also try on X11 w/ xf86-video-amdgpu installed

My laptop has a dedicated nvidia gpu rtx 4060
And an integrated AMD gpu for lesser tasks.
Shouldnt the open GL be handled by my nvidia card?
Im saying this because a prior problem I had w/ Davinci Actually was that it was using the AMD gpu on launch and i was getting a GPU memory full error. So I fixed it by forcing davinci to use my Nvidia gpu.
So using is it correct to use AMD for Open GL? Or am i thinking this whole thing wrong?

prime-run /opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRAWPlayerBut
-running it from terminal with prime-run : Same error
And I don't know a way to artificially constrain the GL version with the nvidia libraries.
If that thing "mandates" OpenGL 2.0 from 20 years ago, you can run that on any potato anyway.
fixed it by forcing davinci to use my Nvidia gpu
But you're not trying to run davinci and that also doesn't complain about some ancient OpenGL versions, right?
Offline
guys, bundled qt5 compiled ONLY with 'x11' support. no wayland there.
you have to use x11 session. its because its works on mint.
focus on x11. install radeon or nividia x11 drivers so on.
