Thunderbolt eGPU issues

I'm trying to use a nvidia thunderbolt eGPU and running into issues. When launching plasma with the following command I get an error 255.

export KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card2 && /usr/lib/plasma-dbus-run-session-if-needed /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland

On Gentoo, I am able to successfully run this command and launch plasma on the eGPU. On arch, I cannot.

My guess at this point is there is a permission issue and/or kernel issue.

If anyone has any ideas, they are welcome!
