Network connection is really unreliable and choppy on laptop

Not sure when this started, maybe a week ago. At least only now I've started to notice it.
I can be browsing say the web just fine, and all of a sudden when I press on a link from a new domain Firefox will immediately say that the website could not be found. I have to refresh like 5 times typically and finally it resolves the hostname.

>Unable to connect
>Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.google.com."
This is the type of error I'd get.

I've already tried changing DNS in the KDE settings, restarting, updating the system, but it didn't resolve it. I am now back on my standard ISP DNS.

I've also noticed that the connection sometimes just dies. It still says that I am connected and that I have internet access on KDE but pinging anything doesn't work. Even the router/gateway.
The only thing that fixes this issue is disconnecting and reconnecting again to the AP.
Sometimes I feel like the connection is also just sluggish or becomes slow, while browsing.
I have tried restarting my router at home to see if that was the issue, but that hasn't solved it. I also have had this issue at school.

Even pressing "preview" while writing this post made me get this issue

I've looked in dmesg but I am not sure what to look for. I don't see anything that seems to be related to be causing these issues.
