Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

funkyou: would it be possible to build kdemod without fam support, eg just use inotify from the kernel?

edit: and then i read KDE uses inotify if fam doesn't run, so removing it from rc.conf is a nice solution. still, not having to install it at all would be cool, tough kaffeine (?) and samba depend on it as well...

Thank you and sorry i dont know why but im going to another directory and find the 3.5.5 PKGBUILD thank you another time smile

And one thing other, I see from your site that the versione 3.5.6 of kdemod conflict with kdemod 3.5.5, so u write that people have to remove the hold version but why u can't add
conflict('kdebase' 'kdemod-base <= 3.5.5')? It is an error?

Should be no problem... I will test that and remove the fam dependency with the next update if everything works out correctly... Hm, dont know if kaffeine really depends on fam. Maybe you uninstall fam and build the latest kaffeine from source. When it works, just open a bug smile AFAIK fam is not needed since KDE 2 wink

Well, i had some substantial changes in the PKGBUILDs and packages, and i am already using some weird provides and conflicts directives, so i didnt know if it works when i add another conflicts parameter...  It would also be the same: People _have_ to uninstall 3.5.5 when they want to use 3.5.6, even when i add this aditional conflict... So i just changed the repo address and forced them to read the instructions when they want to upgrade smile Maybe it was just my fight with already 120 packages ... but as said before: This is the first and last time you have to upgrade it this way, next ones will be smooth smile This thing has grown slowly, and i am now at a point where i am halfway satisfied with it, also because of the feedback i got... btw: From 3.5.7 on i will mimic Archs testing repo, so the adventurous can check out the new release before i move it to /current. I think this is way better and also safer... 3.5.6 was a huge edit, i rewrote nearly all PKGBUILDs and thats also the reason why this update didnt went so smooth like the ones before...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Question on Kontact:

Is it wanted, that Knode is not integrated in Kontact at all, as it was, back then, when I used Kubuntu Dapper / Edgy? Or was that an Ubuntu patch?

Is Kbabel available in KDEMOD? I've searched some sites, and I didn't find anything interesting.

KBabel is part of kdesdk, so you just have to install kdemod-kdesdk to get it...

Sorry to have you disturbed. It was my fault, I simply had to activate it.

Works like charm, thanks a lot.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

funkyou: i got a problem with the domino style and konsole. have you tried it? i get this look: http://img407.imageshack.us/my.php?imag … olepy1.png

also these problems even show up on the 'do you really want to quit' dialog, while the almost exact same konqi dialog (if you have 2 tabs open) doesn't have the problems. could it be any of the kdemod patches? the domino hackers can't reproduce it...

Well, i cant see a problem there beside that your top kicker panel looks a bit funny... So please tell me where i can find it in this screenshot smile

Maybe its kickoff... The author has provided a patch for that: http://home.arcor.de/michaellentner/dom … icon.patch

another one: badkonsole2vg5.th.png

well, kickoff is weird, but look at konsole...  the close and new button, the tabs' corners (compare on the second screenshot with konqueror)...

Ah, now i see, looks a little bit weird... I will check that on my machine asap...

//EDIT: Same problem here, konsole buttons are a bit weird... Hm, i will investigate a little bit more, but i think its the domino style and something about their rounded corners, as other styles are working perfectly...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Ok people, i got something for you...

Johannes Schriewer aka. Dunkelstern was so kind to send me a new outstanding patch he made for KDE, and after some testing he gave me permission to release it with KDEmod, so we can call this a "world exclusive" wink

What does the patch do? Well, find it out for yourself, its definitely worth it smile
The patch is not yet available at the repo, because i want more people to check it out and report their experiences...

To install:

wget http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/testing/kdemod-kdebase-3.5.6-4.pkg.tar.gz
wget http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/testing/kdemod-kdelibs-3.5.6-3.pkg.tar.gz
sudo pacman -U kdemod-kdelibs-3.5.6-3.pkg.tar.gz kdemod-kdebase-3.5.6-4.pkg.tar.gz

Then restart KDE, open Konqueror and click a little bit around in your folders smile
(To see it in its whole greatness, change to the icon-view)

Please report if its running good and if you experience any weirdness or something, although i do not think that that will happen - its a very well made patch...

yes, it's domino indeed, but why only in konsole and not in other apps? and the domino authors can't reproduce it, so i suppose it must be something between domino and the (konsole?) patches in kdemod...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

superstoned: I have taken a look into the transparency patch for konsole... It seems that the patch also modifies the tab-widget of konsole and this could also be the source of your problem, so maybe you can show the domino guys the contents of the patch so they can check it out...

This is generally a good idea because with 3.5.7 this patch will be included into KDE, so they can fix it before smile

And please, could you check out these 2 new packages and tell me how it works on your machine... Thanks...
