After server update the Android Nextcloud app cannot connect [SOLVED]

Hi All,

I am an Arch noob since 10 years and so far managed to get my problems solved by searching the web and reading Arch fora. Not this time:

- After pacman -Syu (log posted at bottom) and reboot on October 9th, the Android apps Nextcloud and Davx5 on 3 different Android phones stopped connecting to my Nextcloud instance.
- The same Nextcloud instance can still be reached by computer via Windows sync client and via browser.
- Thunderbird still can access the Nextcloud calendar (caldav).
- The Android phones can also reach the Nextcloud instance via browser (but not via the NC app).
- The Android app, which cannot connect to my Nextcloud instance still can connect to a different Nextcloud server from work.
- It is no difference if the phones are in my LAN, any LAN or using mobile data.
--> So from all tested combinations the only things that do not work is my Nextcloud instance combined with access via android apps Nextcloud & Davx5.

At first, the Android Nextcloud app complained about "no internet", then upon deinstallation and new installation it says "SSL initialization failed" when I try to log in.
I have googled about this and looked in the logs but made no progress.
I have checked my router settings and found no issue.
The only updates made at that day was what is posted below - no update on my router or the Android phones.

My setup of the Nextcloud instance is as follows, I largely followed the instructions from the Arch Wiki from January 2023.

6.17.5-arch1-1
apache 2.4.65-4
mariadb 12.0.2-1
php-legacy 8.2.29-1
php-legacy-fpm 8.2.29-1
nextcloud 32.0.1-1    from Arch Extra repository

I am using a Sectigo wildcard certificate for *.domain.TLD, where Nextcloud is reached under cloud.domain.TLD.
I guess I am looking for help to debug the apparent error "SSL initialization failed".

Re: After server update the Android Nextcloud app cannot connect [SOLVED]

I realized that also Chromium and Edge could not connect to the server, so it was not only the Android apps.

Long story short: I use an intermediate certificate and the Apache directive SSLCertificateChainFile is deprecated.
So I set up SSL differently and things work again. Closing.
