[SOLVED] Text cursor move alone after update on IntelliJ and Obsidian

Hello,

A week ago, I did a `pacman -Syu` on my laptop and desktop, in both cases, the same problem, so no hardware problem.

Normally, I work with four virtual desktops in a horizontal setup. With, for example, an IntelliJ software (PHPStorm, WebStorm, etc) on the virtual desktop two.
When I move from 1 to 2 with CTRL + ALT + RIGHT ARROW, the text cursor starts moving alone to the right.
If I click with the mouse on another point of the window, the text cursor continues moving alone.
Only stops when I press ESC or another key on the keyboard.
The same happens with Obsidian.

I'm using GNOME 49 with Wayland, all extensions disabled.

Some idea about this strange case?.

Here an example:

Re: [SOLVED] Text cursor move alone after update on IntelliJ and Obsidian

Hi there,

i can confirm the problem.

I am running on wayland and Gnome 49.1 with Tray Icons reloaded extension. I have tried to set some shortcuts for switching the virtual desktops (like Super+F2) but still same problem (actually it was much worse because the F2 is used by the WebStorm for navigation between problems in a code).

It seems like the Gnome shortcut keeps "pressed" the shortcut key even if the key is actually released.

Thanks both for your comments. I was crazy the last days thinking that I'm the only one with this problem.

I found that other software based on Electron has the same problem.

x-ref, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=309831

Are those https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Waylan … plications and does changing the backend in either direction have any impact on the behavior?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Chromi … er_Wayland (ignore the symptoms)

Possibly related to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 8#p2267988 and https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=309613 (upstream patch only prevents the freeze)

Wow, thanks a lot seth.

I would say that I fixed with the same solution as https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=309831

1. Download the previous version from https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/m/mutter/
2. Install with `pacman -U mutter-49.1-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst`
3. Reload Wayland, for example doing log out and log in

Downgrading is not a solution but a temporary fix.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/- … _type=tags
Possibly paradoxically caused by https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/4368 ?
Have you checked the xwayland situation?
