Nvidia driver failing on Xorg after Syu upgrade to 580.105.08-1

Certain graphical programs are misbehaving after a `pacman -Syu` upgrade on 11/11/25

Among other packages, proprietary nvidia drivers were upgraded for my 1070ti:

[2025-11-11T07:50:05-0700] [ALPM] upgraded nvidia (580.95.05-7 -> 580.105.08-1)

Here is my output when running glxgears

[ribbon@hostname ~]$ glxgears

1940 frames in 5.0 seconds = 387.992 FPS
1647 frames in 5.0 seconds = 329.309 FPS

Here is my output when running Godot 4.5

Here is my pacman -Qs nvidia

local/egl-gbm 1.1.2.1-1
The GBM EGL external platform library
local/egl-wayland 4:1.1.20-1
    EGLStream-based Wayland external platform
local/egl-x11 1.0.3-1
NVIDIA XLib and XCB EGL Platform Library
local/lib32-nvidia-utils 580.105.08-1
    NVIDIA drivers utilities (32-bit)
local/libvdpau 1.5-3
    Nvidia VDPAU library
local/linux-firmware-nvidia 20251021-1
Firmware files for Linux - Firmware for NVIDIA GPUs and SoCs
local/nvidia 580.105.08-1
    NVIDIA kernel modules
local/nvidia-utils 580.105.08-1
    NVIDIA drivers utilities

Certain KDE graphical features such as the transition animation between desktops is broken and the quick access "start" menu is translucent which is unusual.

Do I need to downgrade this package?

Re: Nvidia driver failing on Xorg after Syu upgrade to 580.105.08-1

I understand now this is a part of a documented regression: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xse … MzIwMH0%3D

downgrading via

pacman -U https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/x/xorg-server/xorg-server-21.1.18-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

seems to alleviate the issue for now. Thanks!
