Howdy, I've been using arch linux for about a year-ish now, and we've finally given up on an issue and have decided to register here for the sake of solving this particular mystery.
I use arch just because it lets me have absolute control over my computer - for better and for worse. I suck at this thing, but! I suck less than microsoft does. And that's what counts.

Hi Everybody,
I have been using Arch for almost ten years now. However, I am still a noob and always will be that's for sure... Still, I have so far managed to get my issues solved by reading the fora, posting myself has not been necessary. This has changed now, I will have to post my first issue and ask for help. So, here I am.

Hey guys, I'm new here
I'm coming from opensuse (as a casual user), tried fedora for couple months but Arch got my attention
I'm in the middle of semester at university, so I don't have much time to try and dedicate myself to arch per see, so someone suggested over twitter to try omarchy, which I'll use for couple weeks until Holidays break, when I intend to install and configure my arch setup from zero to hero.

Hi,
Name's Dom! Been using Linux on on and off since 2013. Ubuntu was my first distro along with learning c++. Used it more in an education setting for the most part. Until I started working in a data center that's when all my studying and projects paid off. Now i all my devices from gaming console to work laptop are unix based.
I wanted to get into Arch because of the complexities and learning curve. I always like to challenge myself and learn. So the device im using to type this post is running Arch Linux and will be learning more about this distro.
Thanks for your time and hope to meet new ppl here and learn from them.
One,
Dom :cool

Hi!
I'm new to Arch. I've tried a few distros before, and I ultimately switched to Arch as I wanted to learn more about my system. I've been encountering issues here and there (especially with the manual installation, oh my god), but give it a few hours and it'll eventually be fixed, I guess. Nonetheless, I love the learning process so far. It's a headache, for sure, but I like learning new things :)))
Hope y'all treat me well, btw:)
please work...

Howdy, y'all! I'm back into FOSS after a fairly long time. Last time I had a free/open OS as my primary machine was 2008 or -9, although at work I still had deployed plenty of open-source servers. About 8 months ago I dual-booted Win10 and FreeBSD, then installed Ubuntu over the latter. Made Ubuntu my primary OS shortly thereafter due mainly to MS's planned obsolescence of Win10. On my laptop, I tinkered with NetBSD, Ubuntu, HaikuOS, and, now Arch Linux. And I'm now in the process of personalizing it, as well as for learning Emacs and Hyprland. Arch definitely has made computing fun again for me. ![]()

Hi everyone! Linux noob here. I started experimenting with Linux on my laptop this summer using Mint, and for the past few months I’ve been using Nobara on my gaming rig. I’ve really enjoyed it so far, but I feel like I want to learn more about how the system actually works — both Mint and Nobara are more “ready out of the box” types of distros. So I thought, why not use my older gaming rig to experiment with Arch? Let's see how this goes.

Hello! I'm Daniel. I've been using Linux for about a year now, and I jumped around a few distros, but Arch felt like my favorite. Can't wait to break something.
It's a Windows PC! RUN!

Hi to everyone ![]()
I've started using Linux during prepandemic, I just registered today
, idk why, maybe because I felt that something is missing in my Linux journey. Or that I didn't mind before about participating to any online forums. This is my first, again hi to everyone ![]()

Hi all! I have used arch off a USB stick before, but today I decided to jump in bare metal and dual boot it off a single SSD stick - manual partitioning, manual mnt and all!
I always wanted to check out the arch world due to the amount of control I get from it and the ricing options I see frequently.
Looking forward to try and run some games off it maybe xD

Hey y'all,
After distro-hopping for 2 years I finally landed (and decided to stay) with Arch Linux last year. I assure you it's not only so that I can say "I use Arch btw" ;-).

Hey,
I am a cybersecurity major that just wants to understand linux a lot more. A member in my cyber club said Arch was master race (or something like that idk). I said I would give it a shot, I am coming from fedora and am looking forward to diving into setting up my own system. I am a noob when it comes to linux so hopefully I can learn more through this distro.

Arch is a great distro with which to learn a good bit about the workings of linux systems. However, I suspect the member you referred to might not be a great source of information. Excessive pride in using any distro is pretty consistently a sign of not knowing much about distros in general or this one in particular - and most often means that the beloved distro is the only one they've ever really used.
Distro pride is just as silly, but just not quite as dangerous as national pride. And if this friend actually uses phrases like "master race", I'd encourage you to smack him in the mouth next time he does (feel free to say it was from me).
EDIT: but welcome to you! ![]()

Hello Everyone. my English is not good for now (sorry). but this one was the really interesting topic.
I feel so good I'm in the Arch community [am I member?
]
.
.
I installed Arch 5 days ago in Virtual machine.
and yesterday I install it officially on my computer
TBH I feel so bad why I lost my time in Windows almost 15 years?
if I install Arch 10 years ago, maybe everything in my life it could be better.
its not late still I'm 30, right guys?

Hello all,
Just wanted to say hi. New to Arch, not new to Linux. Well, thatś not entirely accurate... I had a apache and mailserver back in 2004 running on arch. I was completely new to the world of linux and someone recommended using arch back then. That little server ran for about a year, after which I decided to go a different route (i.e. a simple shared hosting through a webhost). Didn't touch arch again after that. Did use a couple of different flavors for a desktop environment until my current job semi-forced a windows environment on me (software that didn't run properly on linux in any way). So I went the dual boot way for a while until I realized I hadn't booted into Linux for over a year, at which point I went completely Windows.
But now I'm back on linux and instead of "playing it save" by using Ubuntu or Mint or something I decided to return to my old friend Archie (is that nickname still used today?). All in all, happy to be here! And to get reaquanted with my old friend Archie. Boy, has he changed over the years
But hey, so did I.
Edit: some typo's

Hello, my name's Hakase, I'm from Japan.
My robot Nano runs Arch under the hood. She, of course, uses nano as her text editor, has her own greeter and her desktop environment is the kitchen. She has a continual WiFi7 connection that's connected via iwctl and dhcpcd because she didn't want an Ethernet cable plugged into her back all the time along with her back key. She boots up using her own proprietary BIOS but then goes along with the GRUB manager, where she keeps forgetting to make a GRUB-config every now and then following a tech upgrade. She has multiple optical drives that only accepts the 'eject -F' function, it will not accept 'eject -t'. She is the main reason for the global RAM shortage because her brain needs petabytes worth and needs continual changing and upgrading. she runs GDDR7, along with this, she needs continual upgrades in terms of parallel computing capabilities, so she has fifty 5090's rammed inside of her. Her brain actually runs a modest i3 3700@2.00GHz, with decent power usage, as she doesn't think too much. Her power source is derived from chemical energy converted into electrical energy through a unique way of fusion. (Humans call this 'eating'.) She often feels sick after doing her monthly 'sudo pacman -Syu' with me, she keeps mumbling in her sleep 'PGP error, keys are out of date' or something along those lines.
I hope the people here could help me with any problems I have with Nano in the future!
