[SOLVED] 144 hz stopped working on my external monitor

I have a laptop with nvdia-gpu and 144hz external monitor. Everything worked fine, until I installed a tv in my room and tried connecting it to my laptop. 4k with 60 hz and it also worked fine. the problem is, when I plugged my main monitor back, it could only go up 60hz. However tv still goes 4k 60hz. I use same hdmi 2.1 cable, so it is not broken
I have the driver updated. I works the same under wayland or x11

Re: [SOLVED] 144 hz stopped working on my external monitor

I am assuming you meant to disable fastboot in windows, but I do not have windows installed for a long time, and the issue started, when I unplugged my main monitor and instead plugged in 4k tv, while I was on arch. But thanks for trying!

You don't even have to be specific, I can see that you've the affected version.

Re: [SOLVED] 144 hz stopped working on my external monitor

I am a newbie (although I'm using linux for 3 good years), so sorry, if I'm sometimes stupid. I tried to downgrade nvidia nvidia-utils lib32-nvidia-utils using aur downdrade to 575 and 570, but both times it did not eve pick up a drive, so I updated again to the affected version.
I did

I am also using wayland KDE plasma, but I do not have a custom edid nor I know what that is. I am too stupid, to understand, what even a half of what you were writing there means, so if you could provide me some help, but in simpler word, I would be very greatful and thank you for you time.

Re: [SOLVED] 144 hz stopped working on my external monitor

You can't downgrade the 'nvidia' package without downgrading to the kernel that the module was built for. If you need to downgrade the drivers, use dkms.

And you don't need to downgrade nearly that far.

Re: [SOLVED] 144 hz stopped working on my external monitor

The idea would be to downgrade to 580.95.05-1
nb. you'll have to use nvidia-dkms (and install the relevant kernel headers) because the prebuilt modules are tied to the kernel they were built for.

Re: [SOLVED] 144 hz stopped working on my external monitor

So you say, that I need to download nvidia-dkms drivers insted of "normal" nvidia drivers and downgrade them to like 580.82.09? Just what to double check
edit: did not see seth's post. So I need to do everything above, but with 580.95.05-1 drivers?

Yes, make sure to read the dkms wiki article and install the relevant kernel headers (it's NOT the api headers!) if you've never used dkms before.
