symlinks in samba share, with mount.smbfs / mount.cifs ? [SOLVED]

Hi all. I can't for the life of me understand how to get it working.
I can browse my share just fine, and the symlinks gets resolved in both kde kio (smb://) and from explorer in windows xp. The trouble is, i can't mount them with mount.cifs and have the symlinks work in a terminal or konqueror from a mountpoint. that's irony for ya. this is how samba is supposed to be used, but the kio slave works better. kindof. can't stream mp3s, or watch avis in kaffeine or most other media players this way though...
So; How the *beep* can i make it work? Am I missing something? (i've tried symlinks from both outside the share, and from inside it)
From what i can understand, this should work by default since samba 3.0.8.

I've also tried (just to be absolutely sure)

unix extensions = yes
follow symlinks = yes
wide links = yes

Relevant info, server machine;
smb.conf
(security = share)

[read_write]
comment = read and write
path = /home/pelle/share/rw
public = yes
writable = yes
force group = users
force user = pelle

all files, and symlinks are owned by me. same user as on client machine.

Relevant info, client machine;
fstab

//192.168.1.111/read_write /mnt/network/pelle2/read_write cifs guest,rw 0 0

mountpoint are owned by me.

Is this even possible? I'm starting to have doubts about it. Noone, and i mean, _noone_ can tell me how to do it, or if it's even possible. I don't care if you can't tell me how to do it, but is there anyone, who has even seen it being done, at any point in your lifetime?

OK. I have only found _one_ way to do this. set "unix extensions = no" in smb.conf. Not very pretty (and rather strange) but it really does work!
