I'm running a GTX 1080. I uninstalled the old drivers and notice there is no longer a 580xx available via the AUR. As shown below it's now 590xx. I also do not have the second monitor being detected.

Then you did not search on the AUR, since there IS a 580xx available.

As noted by the news article, your card is not supported by the nvidia-open driver. You need to switch to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-580xx-dkms

It didn't dawn on me that
580xxwas literally what I would be looking for in the AUR. I assumed actual minor version numbers such as "580.01-04" that I wouldn't know. I used the -Rc (cascade) option to also remove the 590 nvidia-utils (etc), rebooted and then reinstalled lib32-opencl-nvidia-580xx for steam and I'm good. Thank you
