nvme nvme0 timeout, aborting KC3000 Dell G15

I recently bought a 2TB Kingston KC3000 and installed Linux on it. When I try to test the disk performance, I get the following error:

Feb 09 11:18:48 debian kernel: nvme nvme0: I/O tag 187 (c0bb) opcode 0x1 (I/O Cmd) QID 3 timeout, aborting req_op:WRITE(1) size:131072
Feb 09 11:18:48 debian kernel: nvme nvme0: Abort status: 0x0

This is already the second Kingston SSD I’ve tried, and the same issue happens.

I tried setting the BIOS to AHCI and also to RAID mode, but the problem persists. I also tried some solutions I found online, such as:

nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0
pcie_aspm=off

Both firmware and BIOS are up to date.

However, when testing disk performance, these errors appear and the system freezes during heavy write workloads.

I found online

Hopefully here, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Solid_ … leshooting

Do the parameters currently apply?

cat /proc/cmdline

Also please post more context around the errors, in doubt your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Re: nvme nvme0 timeout, aborting KC3000 Dell G15

Hi, thanks for the reply

Do the parameters currently apply?

Yes

BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-6.12.63+deb13-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/debian--vg-root ro quiet splash nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pcie_aspm=off pcie_port_pm=off

journalctl -b

Maybe format the ssd with 4096 bytes intead the 512 bytes can help?

Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.
