Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Is there any way to get Dolphin as filemanager in KDEMOD?

Dolphin is developed for KDE4 and hence depends on KDE4libs I assume?

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

@Valheru: We've updated the repository to have 64Bit Packages too, so simply use

[kdemod]
Server = http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/current/i686

for access to the packages. Sorry for the inconvenience smile

@Master One: There is a KDE 3 Version of dolphin. I just chat with funkyou what we may do here smile

Edit: By the way... there is a full set of 64Bit packages now \o/
Just one Bug: Kopete has currently no Jingle support because of missing ortp library in 64Bit builds of arch

First off let me say that I just installed kdemod and I love it.. It's exactly what I thought I was missing in Arch!  Now I have KDE without some of the bloat.

One thing I noticed on my install was that my DPI was set to 90x96 by default.  This seems like an odd setting to me... wouldn't something more square be better (eg.  96x96).

Of coarse I managed to force 96x96 by adding "ServerArgsLocal=-dpi 96" to /opt/kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc and it seems to look better to me.  Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me though..

Thankz for the many hours I'm sure you have put into making kdemod possible!

KDE uses the Xorg DPI settings, and if Xorg detects 90x96, that's what you get in KDE. At the font settings, you can force KDE to use another setting, like 96x96, instead of auto-detecting. Auto-detect can lead to weird stuff between apps, as Gnome is not able to auto-detect the real DPI and always uses 96x96.

Dunkelstern, Funkyou: about the KDE 3 dolphin, you might add it, but afaik there isn't much work going into it, they concentrate on the KDE 4 one anyway. So I wonder how usefull it would be...

BTW i just saw it is in "community" already. But yes the KDE 3 Version is missing many things that are in the KDE 4 Version already.

Edit: Just tested it... literally... there is not much to test. Why would anyone prefer that to good old Konqi?!? I mean I just don't use Konqui for real file management either but use mc but dolphin is more something like a iconview in an own window but not really more.

Graphics can most likely be found on kde-look.org; and in configure panel -> taskbar you can change the font colors of the taskbar.

I'm having a small problem with kdemod...whenever the screensaver starts the CPU goes up to 100%, im using the blank screen option and have not installed any of the other screensavers. Is there anything I can do?

Hm... can you ssh into your box from another computer and look which process is taking up the CPU time?

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Hi, this is my first post and I would like to thank you funkyou for your great job on kdemod.

There is a bug for me in kmail. When I make a search into the search bar, kmail crash nearly every time.
I found a similar bug into the kde bug tracking : http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141354

I try the solution given : do not do ./configure --enable-indexlib on the kdemod-kdepin PKGBUILD
and now that work without crash.

Is it possible to not include the -enable-indexlib into the configure of kmail ?

Get the kicker background here

Wallpaper from screenshots 7/8 is here and from screenshots 6/7 here

You can set the taskbar behaviour to "transparent", so you get the look like shown in the screenshots...

Well, I would prefer to see it fixed, but yeah, got this now and then as well... And I guess it won't be included in any official release anyway, as they'll be using akonadi and/or strigi for KDE 4 anyway...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

I just poped in to say you've done a wonderful job with kdemod! I was always a little reluctant to make the switch because I spent to much time getting kde to work well together with Chinese and English. Anyway, all my settings stayed intact and everything went smooth. I love being able to install only what I need.

Thank you for kdemod!

The adress bar and the toolbar are again seperated into two lines. Worked perfectly up to the last update.

Not sure what you are annoyed at.

http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/current/i686/

The repo is perfectly browseable.  You can download the packages, and install them offline.  I just checked, and sure enough, I get a browser window with the packages.

I can second that, no problem here to download them from the ftp.
