I made a new install of Arch Linux 8.02 beta, and now I finally get the wireless
card to work.
/edit
hi,
I'm fairly new to Arch Linux and am having some problems getting my ipw3945 working under Arch Linux. Also, I cannot find a solution to this in this forum (which may suggest it is a trivial problem).
dmesg gives a reply I do not understand. Should I update the kernel? if so, how?
Any other tips?
Below is some information about the setup.
On beforehand thanks.

which kernel-version do you use? Have you installed the ipw3945 package?
Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

I use the 2.6.18 kernel and I installed driver, deamon with pacman.

Do you use an selfcompiled Kernel
Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

no, I didn't compile the kernel myself. I'm very new to Arch Linux, but have some experience with ubuntu.

Hm I think you have installed the ipw3945 packege from the I-Net right? Then you must update to the newest kernel, the drivers only compiled for the newest kernel.
The best thing is you do an pacman -Syu

nope, that didn't work either. I upgraded a few weeks ago, but it just brought additional issues. I'm thinking now that I should try to do something more drastic, like reinstalling the kernel; if I knew how that is.

Hm, what kind of issues? can you explain?
If you have a fast internet connection i suggest to reinstall Arch with the 0.8 Beta2 Ftp Iso, if you can not upgrade normaly

well, first of all, firefox had start-up problems (seems to be fixed now). Now and again konqueror file browser crashes when I start it the first time after booting (doesn't seem to be reproducable).
I also just tried to install Knetworkmanager, but it crashes as well.

I'll try resolving this by installing a more recent (or maybe beta) version and see how that goes.
