Check this out: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=31596
Downgrade the package libx11 from version 1.1.1-4 to 1.1.1-3 and Opera will work again

sorry guys. forgot to post a fix which i found on the same day of posting.
sudo do this as as root:
pacman --upgrade /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libx11-1.1.1-3
pacman --upgrade /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libxfont-1.2.7-1
libxfont-1.2.7-1 and libx11-1.1.1-3 are older versions which should lie in /var/cache/pacman/pkg.
Does anyone has idea how to get the old versions of packages if one has deleted them from /var/cache/pacman/pkg and the new versions are causing trouble?
I think pacman should have a capability to reverse its last update since many a times updates leave a lot of things not working. Any thought on that.

check one of the mirrors on the wiki. they usually have older version still around...

how to do that since "pacman -Ss" will give only the most recent version. I'm wrong?
