No DRI, blank mplayer, sometimes random crashes when dealing with mplayer.
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)
Will try different setups.
Edit:
DRI enabled after switching to 16 bit color. No luck with mplayer. Still blue video screen.

xorg-server in your repo fixed all my problems... thanks kth5
And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though?
They're all resting down in Cornwall
writing up their memoirs for a paper-back edition
of the Boy Scout Manual.

Yes thanks but xorgserver 1.3 didn't work for me
Guess it's the i830 cannot connect to laptop lcd screen bug that i have. Instant psychedelic panic when x tries to start.
(or I'm doing something wrong )

I'm having trouble with the driver... I can't choose any resolution other than 1024x768, and when I try to go to "console mode" (ctrl+alt+f1,f2...) the computer crashes, leaving me with a strange screen with vertical color lines, only responding to ctrl+alt+supr.
I have a 845 chipset.
Help...
Make sure you don't use EXA but instead XAA. EXA is still marked unstable for i845.
I recognize that while theory and practice are, in theory, the same, they are, in practice, different. -Mark Mitchell

It's all fine now with the new xorg-server
