ssh in gftp for noob SOLVED

I have 2 boxes and a laptop all running Arch Duke with Gnome, connected to a Netgear router and running fine.
Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction to learn how to transfer files between the 3. I've been trying with gftp?
I've read a lot of posts and opened port 22 in sshd_config and I have 'passwordauthentication yes'.
It gets very arcane for me after that. I would be glad to provide more info on my settings so far if I knew what would help.
I get "Connection refused   Could not read from socket  Connection reset by peer".
I'm sure a lot of users would appreciate a noob tutorial.

Thanks:)

Re: ssh in gftp for noob SOLVED

First, try this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Using_SSHD_and_SSH
Note the part about hosts.allow

Also, make sure that you've started the ssh daemon (/etc/rc.d/sshd start)

Re: ssh in gftp for noob SOLVED

thanks stonecrest,
for the link which led to other links. I should have found the arch wiki on ssh myself.
Anyway, after changing a couple of things I can transfer files easily with gftp.
I appreciate your help
