hello,

how can i manage network profiles for use with knetworkmanager?..
i have laptop and i use both static ip and dhcp configuration too. Where can i set some profiles (like these in /etc/network-profiles for netcfg script) which can then list in knetworkmanager menu and enable, switch or disable it?

Re: (k)networkmanager

networkmanager and network-profiles uses different configs. So use one of them smile

PS. network-profiles doesn't have a GUI more then a menu so i'll recommend networkmanager if you use KDE

Re: (k)networkmanager

thanks for reply,

sorry for bad english/expressions ->

you don't understand me, it's..
now i'm using netcfg script for managing my network profiles but today i have tried (k)networkmanager..so my question is how can i manage (create, enable, disable,switch on/off interfaces) network profiles to use this with knetworkmanager->
example:
in rc.conf i have:

eth0="dhcp"
eth1="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(lo !eth0 !eth1)

if i connect to the dhcp based network everything fine but if i want to connect to friend's pc so i need static ip (without gateway, ....)

Re: (k)networkmanager

networkmanager (and thus knetworkmanager, too) doesn't support setting static ips yet. Such feature will be introduced in 0.7 release of networkmanager.

it`s not correct. i`m running knetworkmanager with static ip. the only thing you have to do is you have to put a static ip in rc.conf

eth0="eth0 192.168.x.x netmask 255.255.255.0"
