Is it possible to use k3b as converter, instead CD burner?
I want to convert CD Audio image to set of mp3 or ogg files.
I want to use k3b instead standard converters, because it supports .ape and .flac files.
I know that it is possible to burn or play files in k3b, but what about save as mp3 (and do it for whole album, not by clicking each file).

I don't want to rip audio cd, I want to convert from one format into another.

I don't know about k3b, but if you're using KDE, KAudioCreator will do that.

I don't think k3b (or KAudioCreator) are able to reencode files. There are plenty of scripts to do that though, vide audio-convert (in community).

if you are using kde, it actually has a great feature not known by many.. use the audiocd:/ kio-slave it will have virtual folders that have the songs in different formats. you can configure quality settings in kcontrol

I remember stumbling onto that a long time ago, so I can't for the life remember how, but I was converting mp3 files to ogg with k3b. I think their was a plugin for that somewhere.

OK, let's make it clear.
Audio-convert is a shell script.
Shell script uses external programs to do all the work.
Program used for .ape format is called mac.
This program has been removed from Arch Linux some time ago.
So audio-convert won't work with .ape files.
K3b knows how to convert .ape files, because there is an .ape plugin for k3b in the AUR.
That's why I want to use k3b.
If you know other solutions - please write.
But please make sure you know this solution first.
