2nd CPU not found (solved)

Hi all,

since the laste Kernelupdate yesterday (to version 2.6.22.1-3 from current) my 2nd CPU seems to be vanished.
The gnome-system-monitor shows me that i got only 1 CPU. before kernel update it shows me correctly my 2 CPUs =/
I'm running a Intel Core2Duo T7300 2x2GHz
If you know anything about it just tell me plz

here is the dmesg log http://pastebin.com/f731780fb

Initializing CPU#1
Stuck ??
Inquiring remote APIC #1...
... APIC #1 ID: failed
... APIC #1 VERSION: failed
... APIC #1 SPIV: failed
CPU #1 not responding - cannot use it.

please try to boot appending "noapic"

IIRC, ACPI, not APIC is required for SMP.

@ Topic starter: try upgrading your BIOS.

i know the difference, but apic was designed for SMP systems, and i recall reading somewhere that it was needed for smp. i may well be wrong.

Re: 2nd CPU not found (solved)

I just started my Laptop and after the OS selection (grub) i selected the normal ArchLinux and the screen just went black and nothing happened. After a few trys i started the same Arch with just editing the Kernel line on grub. i removed the "noapic" and it just worked. my 2nd CPU is also shown O.o

http://pastebin.com/f5fba4c0a <- dmesg

I would update my BIOS but i got no Floppy =/

Re: 2nd CPU not found (solved)

You can update your bios with a cd as well.

(I did this and it works well, you'll need a FAT32 USB stick in order to create any backups)

Take a look at e.g. http://www.biosflash.com/e/bios-boot-cd.htm
