Ok, I did a fresh install of Arch Linux yesterday, since I erased the WIndows HDD 120GB to use it for linux also as storage, being completly windows free here . But whenerver the boot gets to the point of starting network it keeps starting it for like 1 minute, and with previous installs (numerous of them) if it took 3 seconds it was much. Now I'm using eth0 with an integrated Lan forcedeth driver, everything is detected correctly and modules are loaded correctly. /etc/rc.conf is as follows:
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
This is so strange any more input I can give? Thanks in advance for any help you might give.

Maybe DHCP server is slow? Can't you use static IP?

Indeed, it was the installation media I was doing ftp install with duke ftp iso and it was the worst time to do ftp install since everything was changing to don't panic, anyways I installed from don't panic and everything is fine now. Windows free again.

I'm having this same problem. I did a fresh install yesterday and after it upgraded to Don't Panic, the boot gets stucked for like 3 to 5 minutes in the Network part. Any ideas?

I still have this problem. Sometimes it's taking over 10 minutes to boot and that's very annoying. Does anybody know if fresh installing from the 2007.08 .iso will solve my problem? I didn't want to do that, so is there an alternative?
EDITED:
I stopped the network with (as root) '/etc/rc.d/network stop' and did 'time dhcpcd eth0'. It took 27 minutes! I'll try to downgrade the dhcpcd package and see if I have any luck.

Is a problem with dhcpcd new version and cable modems mostly.
Yes. I downgraded it to 3.0.17 and it's working again.

A better option I've heard is to disable ARP check in /etc/conf.d/dhcpcd
here: DHCPCD_ARGS="-t 30 -h $HOSTNAME" adding an -A like this DHCPCD_ARGS="-A -t 30 -h $HOSTNAME"
So do you think I should upgrade and change this? I'll try that and come here for results. If it doesn't work, I'll only have to roll back to 3.0.17.
EDITED:
I did it and it worked like a charm. Thanks man! No more waiting for me!
