Re: problems with hal

Make sure that /media exists (I know - I said remove it before; I forgot to mention that you should create it again)

Please run "strace hald --daemon=no" again.  Just post the last 20 (or so) lines of the output.

Re: problems with hal

/media exists:

[davide@davide-acer ~]$ ls /
bin dev home lost+found mnt proc sbin sys usr
boot etc lib media opt root srv tmp var
[davide@davide-acer ~]$

this is the requested output:

poll([{fd=6, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1
read(6, "l\4\1\1)\0\0\0\5\0\0\0\211\0\0\0\1\1o\0\25\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 2048) = 469
read(6, 0x808f888, 2048)                = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable)
write(0, "\0", 1)                       = 1

gettimeofday({1189233888, 586854}, NULL) = 0
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN}, {fd=7, events=POLLIN}, {fd=9, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=0}, {fd=11, events=POLLIN}, {fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 7, 0) = 0
fstat64(1, {st_mode=S_IFCHR|0620, st_rdev=makedev(136, 0), ...}) = 0

write(1, "*** [DIE] hald_runner.c:runner_d"..., 56*** [DIE] hald_runner.c:runner_died():200 : Runner died
) = 56
exit_group(1)                           = ?
