host.deny

Hi!

I have a standalone computer with cable internet. What should be in /etc/host.allow and host.deny, please?

Thank you.

Re: host.deny

hosts.deny is usually ALL:ALL (so no external connections are accepted)
in hosts.allow you enter the name of the service and the IP of the  computers allowed. In other words, it overwrites the settings of hosts.deny for the ip address identified in hosts.allow.
Say you want ssh connections in that machine from your workstation, so you would have an entry like this:
sshd: 192.168.0.20
