Black screen after leaving X

I'm not sure whether I post it in a right place, anyway...
I run Arch on my laptop, I can run any desktop environment, but when I'm leaving the X mode (e.g. using Ctrl+alt+Backspace), the screen turns black (but switched on). The system is still working, because I can use reboot/halt commands and the system responds to them. This goes with another distros too.
There are no Errors (EE) in Xorg.0.log, only one warning ("Open ACPI failed"). Maybe Xorg just can't handle my screen properly.
I know it would be difficult to help me, but I hope someone will come up if some ideas smile

Re: Black screen after leaving X

Just a black screen?  Is there a mouse cursor or anything?  Just it restart and just go to a black screen then, or does it just go to a black screen without anything before that?

If you could post your ~/.xinitrc and /etc/rc.conf, 'twould be appreciated.

After leaving Xwindow I should see the black terminal again, as in runlevel 3, but I acually see nothing.

Re: Black screen after leaving X

A while ago I had a similar problem. The solution was to insert VGA=771 in menu.lst on the kernel line. Perhaps it can help you too?
