Judd, it is a sign of a great leader that you know when to step away.  I don't know if I could if this was my project...  Enjoy your free time.

Hey Phrakture just a thought, wouldn't it be nice if you release some kind of roadmap, to tell us your future plans for Arch Linux, so that we the community keep motivated and looking foward to upcoming things/changes in the near future? For me that will be more of an organized starting for this all, but is just a suggestion only..

Yep. I plan on it. Maybe later this week or early next week. I have a few pending things I need to do before we can get into goals and where we're going to take this puppy.

Re: Arch Leadership

Thanks apeiro for all these years! I admire your one pointedness in keeping Arch within it's philosophy, thereby created a solid Arch platform. It will be an interesting continuation, I am sure Arch will do great with the help of the developers and community.  Congratulation phrakture.

Thanks Judd for creating the best distro out there, I'll always feel in debt with you for this.
Ah, and congratulations to Phrak

Re: Arch Leadership

Well, what can I say that haven't already been? Probably nothing and I do agree in most, if not all, of it. Judd, I believe you've done an excellent job with Arch and as the rest I'm sad to see you go. I really appreciate the work you've done. As for the choise of successor, I couldn't agree more, it seems to be a logical and proper choise. Godspeed to both of you.

Re: Arch Leadership

I really admire you for the time you can dedicate to keeping a distro running. Before finding Arch, I was playing with the thought of doing exactly what you've done. Unfortunately I would never have the time to do it.
So thanks to you Judd for creating Arch Linux, and thanks to you Phrakture for taking up the reins. I'm sure you'll keep up the good work.

Why do you want to change this boot message? The creator name on boot is a good thing...

Re: Arch Leadership

Thanks Judd for all your hard work. The result you accomplished is probably the greatest reward for it, but it's no excuse for me to thank you for my preferred OS!

Phrakture, thx for accepting the leadership - I hope you can continue this project so it can stay ahead of the competition / other distro's!

Nice, after that I decide if I vote for you... ohh there are no other contenders, oh well tongue. Also people have you noted the wikipedia entry of Arch Linux has been altered to reflect the change? I did it yesterday right after the announcement and then it got edited to fit it better to wikipedia style (I'm still no used to that big_smile)

Re: Arch Leadership

two things:
first, congratulations to aaron because you really deserve it,(you are the developar more active that  see, I'm not saying anythiong to the rest of developers, they do a great job specially because they do it on their free time, just that he's the one that I see with moer time involved)

and second, thank you to judd because creating this distro, and congratulations because of this prove of humility letting the project go without you at the front because it's better to have someone with more time.

sorry for any english mistakes, it's not my mother language

Re: Arch Leadership

I have not been an user of Arch Linux for that a long period of time, so I have rarely any idea, how it actually developed, but it fulfilled my every expectation, apart from the configuration, which was even easier than I expected.

Judd created the distribution, which has - in my opinion - a lot of modern ideas, making it the perfect product to emphasize on, if one tends to use his computer for a long time without a lot of hassle. I'm very grateful for his effort and I am sure, that phrakture will follow the path, we Archers intend to follow - at least I hope so.

Keep the great work up!

wosh, how shall I write this...
guess I should try to keep it KISS, so no poems today.

Judd, a really humongous thanks to you man. I can understand that you're proud of arch.
No matter if you're a really skilled user or a freshmen trying to learn 'the way'
you always feel at home here. So for leaving this to us, cheers man. May thou be
forever blessed by the great shiny pinguin in the heavens. smile

Phrak, from what I've seen of your work I have complete confidence in your abilities
as Overlord, and I wish you the very best of luck in yer future as overlord !

Cheers to both of you.

Re: Arch Leadership

Judd - Thanks for all your hard work creating/developing Arch.  I believe I have a different perspective than most on this forum since I'm older and have been a Unix System Administrator/Engineer for the past 8 years.  The fact that after all those thousands of hours of Unix experience Arch is the linux I choose for my own computer at home is about the best compliment I can give you.

Aaron - Good luck and congratulations.  I'm confident Judd left Arch in good hands.
