Just got it working on Toshiba Satellite M100.. Alsa had some problems until i got it from the alsa website straight.. wifi works..

Hello!

Asus F3F / Core duo 1,66 / 1 go Ram / 100 go SATA hdd / Intel 3945 wireless / Intel video and sound card

Sound, video, acpi (with asus-laptop) work great.
Most of the special keys works out of the box.

TV-Out seem to work but I did not configure it.
I need some tutorial to easily configure my wifi at school but the ipw3945 works.

I did not test bluetooth nor my webcam.

Arch is pretty fast on it.

Sure. Don't use gnome-alsamixer or xfce4-mixer (dunno about svn). Use amixer from the command line or kmix.

Yes, that's it. Both of the previously mentioned mixers don't actually change anything when it comes to microphone input. You have to set the input to 'Digital Mic' something or other, or else sound doesn't work. Make sure "Front" is unmuted, because it doesn't have a master volume control. That's it, really. 'Front' and 'Digital Mic In' (or whatever the wording is). The microphone sound from there is controlled by the 'Digital' sound control. As far as I can tell, none of the other controls do anything at all.

I didn't need to do any special tricks. I know if you check the ubuntu forums (where they have support threads specifically for this laptop) they'll tell you to pass certain special parameters to the kernel module. None of these do anything in the arch kernel, nor the kamikaze kernel that I use now.

The webcam (if you get it) requires linux-uvc-svn, and is thus V4L2-only. Use with ekiga.

Oh! Pay extra for the intel wireless. You won't regret it.

Just finsihed last night installing Arch with XFCE on an HP Pavilion dv6000 ( dv6325us variant ) and everything works fine. I have not tested
- the modem (Need to check into the WinModems area for this.)
- the touchpad (Synpatic Touchpad I believe.)
- the lightscribe (This probably works and I just need to load the software for it and get the right media.)
- the multimedia keys (Added acpid to the daemons but they don't appear to work, more research needed.)
- ExpressCard/54 Slot (No idea)
- 5 in 1 digital media card reader (Will have to test)
- External VGA (Needs testing)
- TV out (Needs testing)
- IR Port (Needs testings)
- Wireless WPA Supplicant (Not tried yet)
yet but those are not super important at this point. Only variations from standard install were I had to use the noapic and noirqdebug options in the kernel section of the Arch entry in the menu.lst file. Wireless worked with NDISwrapper and the SP34152A Driver using the bcmwl5.inf and .sys files and NETWORK Manager.

im running it on my inspiron 9300 as of this morning when i wiped ubuntu. that how much i like arch, i've only been using it for a few weeks, on a test system, recently replaced windows on my desktop with 64 bit arch, and now my laptop

laptop specs are
intel 915 (i think)
pentium m 1.86
1gb ddr2
geforce 6800 go
display 1440x900 lcd
intel 2915 wireless, using ipw2200 driver

nic worked no problem. i havent tried suspend. alltom mentioned he wasn't sure if his flash card reader worked, havent tested that yet. everything seems to work so far

Ive got T61 some days ago and well, most things actually work but some still arent. Mostly I mean Fn+brightness which doesnt work (a nvidia bug). I can see that theres different graphic card in yours so I suppose everything will be ok.

Add HP DV9650us to the list of "working" laptops. I haven't messed with the "spacial" keys like volume, etc., not any of the special media stuff (like TV input, etc.). But all in all it seems to do well.

Ironically enough, I have to use ndiswrapper for the intel wifi since the 4965 module is too unstable on my system; yet the native broadcom ethernet module works just fine.

here's a few notes I thought of off the top of my head.
-All MM keys mapped.
-IR Remote control fully mapped (No setup required since it emulates standard keyboard button presses).
-No special graphics/LCD settings needed, console can be set to native 1280x800
-Audio requires a modprobe.conf setting... something like snd-hda-intel option=stack5.

Thinkpad Z61p. Pretty much everything works, other than a little unstability due to fglrx and ATI FireGL V5200. I guess that's expected. Can't wait until the open source radeonHD driver comes out!

Acer Aspire 3680 -- yup, the $360 one.

Added 512mb more of ram for $20. Laptop works well, plenty fast (xfce and openbox). Have not tried the modem - really don't need it. Xfce+Beryl is very usable and looks good on the Intel GMA 950! Volume control and other multimedia keys working with xbindkeys.

I could not get wireless (Atheros AR5BXB63) working, so I bought an Intel Wireless 3945 Mini Pci-E adapter off of ebay for $15 - replaced the Atheros card and things work well. Wireless works!

Great laptop for college - $395 + Arch!

Im running Arch on a Dell Inspiron 6000 (graphics = ati x300).
Everything is working fine (card reader, suspend to ram ...), the only thing
I never tried is the modem.

IBM ThinkPad T40.

I've recently switched from Ubuntu Feisty to Arch (using 2007.08 ISO). I don't use wireless, suspend / hibernate and other fancy features, so I can't comment. Other than that - everything works just great.

Moreover, ThinkPads seem to have good additional support - for example I saw dedicated kernel in AUR, but never used it. I tried tbp and tpctl to get OSD working and it runs without problems just like on Ubuntu.

Overall it's fantastic plus Compiz works a lot better now, I'm not sure why it was so slow in Feisty, but on Arch it's flying

I have an Ibm x20 that i recovered from work, trouble is it has no built in network interface, no way to boot, and no power supply.

Anyone have a old ibm power supply and internal network card for one of these laying around, I would pay.

If i can get a NIC, I will do a network install from a RIS server or the Linux equiv.
