mpd "skipping" after playing radio streams for a while

I have an mpd server playing a local radio station over the internet at our retail store!  Works great!

... But sometimes, it begins to "skip," playing a 1/2 second piece of the stream over and over.  I'm working here with other employees as well as the owner of the store, and he's not anywhere close to as literate as I am with this stuff, so I'm trying to impress him with this idea (as well as others ).  So having my server skip at random times isn't very helpful.  I don't know if mpd is having problems or if the radio stream is cutting out, but either way, I need to keep the music going dependably

Anyway, I thought I would get this problem fixed.  When I connect to it with Sonata, it says it's playing the stream, but it sits at a time (it doesn't progress like usual).  I can stop the stream and play it again, and it'll continue playing like it should, but I need to do this every time it begins to skip.  I was hoping there was a flag in a configuration file somewhere I could set, a script I could try, etc.

Any suggestions?

Maybe try adjusting some of the buffer options in the config? Like buffer_before_play, etc..
