Boot splash such a trouble

Why is getting a boot splash on archlinux such a trouble . First download source then patch and then so on so forth . How much trouble is to add boot splash patch be default, it wouldn't increase the size of the kernel drastically. Or creating a single package to enable boot splash.

I agree on that. I know that Arch's law is to KISS, but seriously : who doesn't like boot splash ?

I have to agree, I do like bootsplash. But still, everyone should have their opinions and they can install it for themselves. That way Arch still manages to KISS and people can make it what they want!

I agree, Arch should be a bit easier to use bootsplash. It should come with the options, not after hacking a thousand confs.. but that is just my 2 cents

I would also like a bootsplash. Raymano tried to get the devs to patch the kernel with the fbcondecor patch, but they refused saying "we don't want to add random features to the kernel. We want to stay as vanilla as possible."

Bootsplash is useless in arch due to the fast boottime

...Still if it was enabled by default, I'd surely use it! (I thought the devs already agreed to put it in the kernel?)

I didn't want to patch kernel. I don't like the standard boot, so I'm experimenting with splashy.
What I really want is a 12 second boot. During the boot some nice flashing thing indicating there is progress,
and some error-messages in case of problems. Like some indication of fsck. If that happens, I can go
back to bed and sleep another hour or so.
