XFCE4 is definitely very fast (1,3s startup out of gdm)
The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

XFCE rocks. The only complaints are that the desktop has no icon support (hope it has in 4.2 ;-)), and that I can't get used to xffm.
And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though?
They're all resting down in Cornwall
writing up their memoirs for a paper-back edition
of the Boy Scout Manual.

Thanks, but I've done both things, and I didn't get to like rox, and Nautilus (which I love), has to load lots of gnome libraries, which is why I don't like it, but I use it anyway. I would prefer that XFCE had it's own desktop with icon support, but it's not that I'm saying its impossible.
Thanks anyway.
