Wireless - MAC or DHCP problem

Hello, I want to connect to a network that is WEP encrypted. AP then should give me IP address according to my MAC address (it is set on AP). But dhcpcd gets no DHCP offers, i tried dhclient, too. So I think there could be problem in sending my MAC address.

I'm using 2.6.22 kernel, tried 2.6.23 with same result. In shcool I am able to connect to WPA encrypted network without problems. I don't have configuration access to AP.

The weird thing is that i can't get it working only in Archlinux. I have Ubuntu distribution beside and there everything works ok (kernel 2.6.20).

Could you please give me tip, how to debug this problem or where the problem lies? Thanks in advance.

You could have a look at how Ubuntu's networking stuff works in order to better understand your problem.

Also, have you checked that you are associated with the AP before the dhcp request is made?

Re: Wireless - MAC or DHCP problem

I solved it finally. Shame on me, they key that was given to me was hexadecimal code and I passed it to iwconfig as a string code. A week have I been figuring this out.

In Ubuntu I used wifi-radar to set the key and I think it did recognition job. Today I tried to put it into KDE wireless configuration dialog and it told me that this is hexadecimal code. Now everything works fine.

Thank you for your effort.
