I have installed arch 2007.08.2 and have uncommented core, extra, community and unstable then run pacman -suyd. When I then try to install gnome I get this error
[root@arch ~]# pacman -S gnome
:: group gnome:
control-center epiphany gnome-applets gnome-backgrounds gnome-desktop
gnome-icon-theme gnome-media gnome-mime-data gnome-mount gnome-panel
gnome-session gnome-themes gnome2-user-docs metacity nautilus yelp

error: cannot resolve dependencies for "libxklavier" ("libxkbfile" is not in the package set)
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: libxklavier requires libxkbfile>=1.0.4
Please can someone help?

Why "pacman -suyd". That skips dependency checks which can only lead to pain...
Does "pacman -Ss libxkbfile" find anything? If not, try a different mirror.

nothing. Did pcaman -Suy as well but someone suggested the d at some point don't know why. It seams the package is not in any of the repositories! I'm using the 64bit version.
[root@arch ~]# pacman -Ss libxkbfile
[root@arch ~]#

As Allan suggested already, try a different mirror. It is on the main mirror, so probably there is just something wrong with your mirror.

That seems strange given the package hasn't been touched in 13 months - I doubt it has been a problem for that long! Unfortunately my 64bit machine is dead so I can't confirm this myself.

Thanks guys I changed the mirror and it works!
