cablemodem - desktop pc connects to internet, notebook pc don't

hi! i have a desktop pc conected to internet with a cable modem isp, on this pc in the /etc/rc.conf file i set

#
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
# NETWORKING
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
#...
HOSTNAME="aleyscha"
#...
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
#...
gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
ROUTES=(!gateway)

same on the notebook, but with a different HOSTNAME, when i unplug the ethernet cable from the desktop, and plugs to the notebook (powered off), reset the isp cablemodem by power off/power on it, and turn on the notebook, first it complains about "No DHCP or proxyDHCP offers were received" when try to boot from lan, but later when arch is loading network daemon it timeouts, but when plugs again in the desktop, run as root "/etc/rc.d/network restart" i have internet here :S obviously is a problem with the notebook, but don't know adn dont find anything that gave me clues sad
