Can't start Mysql

hey, i'm trying to set up MySQL to work with amarok. I've done it with every distro. (includiing Arch, twice), but after reinstalling Arch, I cant get MySql running. Whenever i try to start mysqld, it gives me this message:

080125 14:24:36  InnoDB: Operating system error number 13 in a file operation.
InnoDB: The error means mysqld does not have the access rights to
InnoDB: the directory.
InnoDB: File name ./ib_logfile0
InnoDB: File operation call: 'open'.
InnoDB: Cannot continue operation.

I tried changing the ownership of "./lb_logfile0" I can't even find it. I know this may be a noob question, but i'm not really knowledgeable about mysql. I've only used it set it up to work with amarok. Thanks in advance.
